Water, wind, and fire. Since the beginning of time people have been awed by the powers of earth. Many stories have grown out of indigenous cultures to help their people understand these forces of nature. Written in three languages Spanish, English and Nahual, Fuego, Fueguito /Fire, Little Fire Tit, Titchin is a stunning ode to the mighty fire.

In a mesmeric journey, Little Fire tells us who he is:
“I am born from a spark.
Near or far, low or high,
On our Mother Earth
Beneath our Father Sky,
I flit like a firefly.”

We can find him deep in a volcano or as a bolt of lightning across the sky. He can be found “in the kitchen, in the stoves” and the many other forms and functions, from cooking to ceremony, that he can take on.
Fire proudly describes how he is dressed in many colors and his sounds of sizzle, hiss, crackle, crackle.

“I sing my song among the stones.”

With their yellows, reds, orange, and hints of turquoise, Felipe Ugalde Alcantara’s illustrations will hold you spellbound.
