It’s no secret that our children have inherited oceans filled with trash. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know today’s super villain is plastic.

But never fear-Captain Green is here to save the day (and the planet)!

Fresh out of superhero school, Captain Green is off to protect our planet from its nemesis: pollution. Using his superpowers, he can spot wildlife in danger from garbage miles away. With a Zap! Bam! Pow!, he’s cleaning up the earth with gusto.

When a distress call comes in, he saves a dolphin tangled in trash. After setting it free, Captain Green notices that plastic is endangering aquatic animals everywhere. Seagulls even mistake the plastic for food and consume it. While rescuing a turtle on the beach, Captain Green notices even more plastic! He cleans it up, but no matter how much he zaps, there is always more.

Finally, he realizes he cannot do it alone. The job is just too big. Super villain plastic is winning.
Captain Green uses his newly acquired superhero skills and teach beachgoers the three Rs… Reduce! Reuse! Recycle! He reminds them, “You don’t need superpowers to save the seas!”

While Danny Deeptown illustrations paint an all -too-real picture of the environmental problem with plastic, Evelyn Bookless does a superb job guiding us to become good stewards of the earth in a fun and engaging format.
